Seems you guys are writing as other people is living on the moon.
BWI is selling shocks to Ferrari, not Delphi anymore and from 2009.
The way to change damping rate settings is patented by GM (Magneto rheological fluid changing viscosity through MF ). Than the system has accelerometers, ECU exactly as other system that employs electro-valve or something similar to change damping rate.
So my remark about common rail direct fuel injection that have the main idea patented and sold to Bosch that actually owns the rights (And well paid by Delphi to produce its own CR version)
Let me understand.
Following your mind The Corvette have borrowed CCM brakes from Ferrari ….

@guest
Ferarri buys their shocks directly from GM. It is gm technology that is still owned and manufactured by gm. Not even remotely the same as the diesel technology you are trying to compare it to. That's like saying everyone using superchargers owes credit to the first company that produced them.
Give a little credit where it is due. GM's magnetic ride control is a big advance in damper technology. Until their patent expires they own the production rights so if another company wants to use them they have to get them from gm's delphi division.

Everyone loves to bring up the tire advantage, but fail to mention the Ferrari's transmission advantage, HP advantage
Bah both great cars but you are mixing apples with oranges. The Z06 Z07 package is by far more track oriented for suspension set-up than a 458. The ‘’hardcore ‘’version of the 458 is coming out in September.
and that it's using magnetic shocks that came from GM in the first place
All the carmakers are using ‘’common rail’’ for Diesel engines that have been originally patented by Fiat. So they are using Fiat technology ?

@BR2
I know, and it's a shame. The real enthusiast know, and that's why I come here. :)
I always go to Jay Leno & Tiff Needel for a real car review. Tiff had nothing but good things to say about the C6Z06 when it first came out, I've really learned to respect him since then.
And Jay, well he just loves everything, and OWNS everything... lol

Omg i Know!!
Wh y is it Peoplr complain about a ZO6/ZR1 when they get a pair of good tyrs? people didnt say shite when they were being compared to a GT2/Scuderis/LP560 back in 2009, I dont understand it, All the other cars that use Competition tyres dont get this Ignorant bashing abuse, and they have BEEN using them, yet all of a sudden a Vette gets them, and they now say its not fair, or is cheating, or some other bullshite? Corvettes having been tearing it up ever since the 1st saw light, so i dont understand it.
Tyres have alays been a good way to make a car fast, and possibly the cheapest, but its kore then tyres that make a car fast.

BR2, I too am surprised how many people complain about the tires used on the newest Corvettes (Z07&ZR1)
Plainly other car manufacturers use and have been using tires like that for a while, but it's only a sin if Corvette uses them, lol... Oh well
@hamcee
My point exactly. The Z06/Z07 has higher limits, but the 458Italia is easier to reach it's limits. That being said, next generation of GM's Performance-Traction-Management may change all that ;)

the only comments i do see on youtube is, how the GT-R is better and faster than everything else and if the GT-R actually loses in one vid, the driver sucks.
tho the z07 is a true drivers car imo.
i doubt that any hobby driver will have a chance against an 458 italia. but if u are really high skilled, it can get dirty for the italia.

As Long as comparisons exists, and the people that have love and/or respect for there respected car, Debating, arguing, bickerng which car is best, or fastest or whatever, is never going to stop, But im glad it doesnt, we wouldnt have sites like this one if we did.
