As my custom is, I wouldn't reward a manufacturer for putting different tire setup on their cars. If Porsche saw that a bigger tire wouldn't make much sense on their GT3, then so be it. As to the compound, the GT3 tires were probably a lot better than the vette's just by merit of being updated and produced later. I would not want to be caught driving a sportscar, let alone a rwd one with 500hp when it suddenly rained hard. Luckily, I've lived in the US (and recently moved to an even sunnier place) so I don't have that problem.
