No I did not say the GT86 looks like an expensive car. I said it looks more expensive than it is. You can get the FRS for 25k USD, similar to the price of a civic, but it looks nearly twice its price.

...There is a SHITE load of Japanese cars here, Along with Influence, Car style, Driving style, Movies/Tv/toys/Manga etc Next to every European car here, Theres always a Japanese on by it. Japan however is FULL of Japanese cars, More so then any other type, Hell everytime I go there for the holidays that's LITERALLY all I see. Even in Japan GT-Rs are not common sights, Nor any place for that matter. I only go there about 2 weeks a few times a year, so I fully say it to that extent since I don't live there.

Also, The GT86 is a great looking car, But even your average person wont think its an Expensive car, Unless you have never seen a "Different" car before them maybe. But as soon as someone mentions its a Subaru, That Expensive part, goes out the window. But maybe it might be expensive for 200Bhp at 25k, Hell even a Renault Sport Clio was like 13k and you got the same Hp.

I agree with Mental. To someone who doesn't know cars, GTR is just a loud Nissan. Cars depreciate, just like handbags. If you wanna buy something expensive, you want people to notice.

@BR2, of course, London is an European place, with little Japanese influence, and owning a car is relatively cheap, so GTRs are rare. Asia's different. They are much more influenced with japan, and all that initial D drama. Where I live, parking, gas, and toll fees are as much as the monthly financing of the car, so only the rich drive, so why not buy something more expensive if you're gonna buy at all. Top selling cars are 5 series and E classes...

I'm assuming he's saying something about the difference between driving a car that IS fast, as opposed to one that just LOOKS fast. As if that's at all relevant to anything. We aren't talking RICE'd-out Civics with ridiculous body kits, four-inch exhaust pipes and untouched engines.

No, the question is why has Nissan seen fit to make customers choose between looking fast and being fast? And it's not just the GT-R; the 370Z looks plenty fast(trying a bit too hard to mimic a Porsche, IMO), but it really isn't. Other manufacturers have no problem giving their cars the looks to compliment their performance. But the GT-R looks like it was designed like one of those German Super Sedans; only people who already know what it is would know that they were looking at a beast. If you picked 100 people off the street and showed them a BMW M3 and a 335i, how many do you think would be able to immediately tell which was which? Same principle. I'm willing to bet that if stripped the badges off and put a GT-R next to a Dodge Charger SRT8 and asked 100 random people which one looked the fastest, the vast majority would pick the Charger. Does this mean anything? If not hung up on how other people perceive your ride, no. But the GT-R's looks don't do it justice at all, and that's not a problem any other car of its caliber has. With the possible exception of the 911 Turbo S, which I doubt the typical

Any, Id rather have a good looking car then a fast one, Im in no rush. If im going to buy a car, the performance or power is NEVER on my list of needs, possibly even wants, Price, Looks, Comfort, accessability. Don't care about Mpg, Performance, seats etc

But, Id still have to disagree on the GT-R looking like a normal car, We all know its not as extreme as an average Ferrari or Lamborghini, In terms of looks to the average person, a GT-R would be the same as a Carrera S around here, they turn just as many heads.

When you hear the exhaust from a distance, you know that isn't your average run of the mill car, When you see it from any direction, Its the same, The GT-R does stand out wether your an average consumer who doesn't no shite about cars or a Pro, t gets looks, Maybe not as much as the latter, But ear drums will open and heads will turn.

personally if I was buying a car, my priorities are 1.how nice it looks, close 2.how well it performs on track, then straight line, and close 3.how it sounds and it's personality. anything else i could care less for in a car. that's why the viper srt10 acr is my personal favorite, because it fits my criteria in every way perfectly. and it costs about the same (after dealer markups) as a nissan gtr. I also like that the acr was able to hold the ring record on and off from '08-2012, something I doubt any car in it's price range would be able to do (even the gtr, since the 918 still beats it) :)

Is the peson in particular car ant to be fast or look like someone in fast car.
I mean its always the same. Do you anna look cool or be cool. You wanna be athletic, healtly guy or just trying to look like one.

I'm gonna have to agree with mental, there's a guy at my university who drives a silver GTR, and most people (including me)just walk by it without batting an eye, meanwhile this guy with a blue camaro ss gets stares everywhere he goes.

I have to say: over here an average person, who has no relationship with the automotive world, won't pay any attention to the basic GT-R, if it stands in a parking lot or traffic jam. Most of people don't know what performance capabilities and price list GT-R provides. It's just a Nissan for the majority, a competitor to the Benz CL-Klasse. Im fact, only car enthusiasts and teenagers, who play video games, could really tell that GT-R is a supercar.

I see Ferraris everyday. Just look in my parking lot. A 430, 458, Bentley, Aston. Oh well...

Anyway, You would have to be COMPLETELY deaf and blind to think even for ONE minute that the GTR even resembles a normal car, Theres isn't a SINGLE Average person who wouldn't think the GTR doesn't stand out, You can compare it too any car, Looks sound, Even the sound isn't normal.

Sorry but you don't see GT-Rs everyday, Not anywhere. Not even in London do you see cars like this everyday, Hell your everyday car here barely exceeds 30k, let alone 75k. I do business with clients who tend to have a shite ton of money, So seeing cars of a high caliber is not as rare for me, Almost an everyday thing, But outside that, Its all Renaults and Fords. But that's just me.

The main point is the GTR is too sensible and looks nothing like how it goes. Only flashing thing about this car is the loud exhaust, which sounds similar to a modified Honda civic. Ferrari's instant high rev engines do have their point. Anyone who doesn't know cars, wouldn't really notice the GTR standout, especially when ever car is crawling in traffic

Personally I would much rather have the Ferrari 458 Italia. The Nissan GTR is easier to master, but I like the challenge of mid-engine cars. I also prefer the low center of gravity, and lighter weight of the Ferrari. Given an average driver, the GTR would turn a faster single lap, no question about that. I think though that a professional, or very skilled amateur will turn out to be faster in a twenty lap race with the 458. Hard to say for sure though. Just my conjecture. :)
