Chevrolet Corvette 283 FI specs

@fastestlaps please delete Super8 data except of the 0-60mph

Road and Track magazine January 1959 issue test: 0-30 mph 3.1, 0-40 mph 4.2, 0-50 mph 5.1, 0-60 mph 6.6, 0-70 mph 7.5, 0-80 mph 10.0, 0-90 mph 12.2, 0-100 mph 15.5 seconds. 1/4 mile 14.5 at 96 mph. Top Speed gearing limited 128 mph.

This Corvette wasn't even close to fast compared to old Alfa Romeo who ever run on Tskuba. They were same like Vette, having a modern part but still has original specs from the day they were still a new car. Among them there was a Giulia Sprint GTA and Sprint Speciale who set time 1:13.52 and 1:13.53. That's the only standard old Alfa that I knew because most of them were modified by their owner for classic track day race.

@ 196ss: I'm not quite remember but it's definitely wider than original. It's still has a white wall but I can't remember the brand.

@ Super8: thanks, this laptime was very fast even for modifyed car. Don't you rememember modern tires size were same as original 170mm or wider?

@Super8 thanks for the lap time. Tires have evolved enormously over the 50 plus years since this Corvette was new, and is certain to be the most important improvement to lap times. Groovy car!

@ 196ss: It's 1:14.35. The reason why it so fast because it has modern part. New tires and new suspension is the reason why this car run so fast on track. The power rating still 290 hp but now it can deliver the power more efficient than the original 1958

A year ago you've mentioned that you have Tsukuba laptime for this car. Can you post it?

Seeing this car reminds me of the beginning sequence in the movie "Heavy Metal". If you haven't seen this wonderful animated film from 1981, I heartily recommend it. It starts with a classic Corvette like this being launched from a space shuttle to do a re-entry on a planet. Cool, and with groovy music.

...Never been a fan of White Wall tyres, Never sat right with me.

I would love to drive down route 66 in this car, the '58 Corvette, and other classic corvettes from the 50s, 60s, and early 70s are the perfect cars for that.

I actually had a laptime for this car in Tsukuba. But I don't have the prove because the owner didn't set the time on laptime list.
