we all know that von saurma is an excellent driver. it is that he always gets bad days when he has to test a ferrari and good days when he tests porsches or, to a slightly less extent, other german brands. as far as i know, he should be doing the same number of laps attempts with any kind of cars tested, hence the results should consistent with s. bert, hence the difference in driving skills of the pilots plays no role. 8 seconds, even at nurburgring, are quite substantial (unlike 2-3 seconds on the same track) and this is what amounts the difference obtained by s. bert between the gallardo sl and the 458italia as opposed to 0 seconds detected by von saurma.

@man1 thats bullshit what you claim about Horst von Saumra!
The biggest reason for his "slow" laptimes are the simple fact that he has only very very limited laps to set a proper laptime! He is not like a Nissan testdriver months at the northloop to go out at a perfect day in perfect conditions to set a fanboy laptime in a car they know perfect!
Horst von Saumra has to take the car and go into a all out time attack run without knowing the car!
Like northloop king Hans Joachim Stuck explained to autocar during a Scirocco R test "after a VLN race you can´t do record runs because the track is to slippery" we dont know the track conditions at the test day (only weather/temp)
The next different is driver skill. Sascha Bert is a race driver, not a international top driver but he reached 3. place during the 2005 24h at the northloop with the Zakspeed Viper GTS and 2009 4. place at the 24h with the Alzen Porsche GT3.
Guys turn on your brains 8s at a 20.8km track in the same car between a good race driver and a very good car journalist thats nothing, just look at the 24h were many driver use the same car and there are the differnents even bigger!
I drove yesterday a fun Kart race and won it with over 14s lead over the second and I laped the rest of the field at least once, we all were sitting in the same Karts with the same tires and engine, the different was skill. I do little bit Kart racing in a club championship the rest drive only for fun once in a while. Easy win for me

@dede: sorry i don't buy the theory of bumpy tracks and gallardo sl rigidity:
norschleife had the same "bumpyness" when S. Bert and von Saurma drove the gallardo sl;
there are plenty of cars with a more rigid setup than gallardo sl that performed very well on nordschleife (gumpert on road tires, 599xx and zonda r on slicks to name a few).
the reasons for the discrepancy between s. bert time and von saurma times with gallardo sl and ferrari italia are much more obvious.

very simple: it is well known that von saurma would rather amputate both of his legs than drive ferraris fairly in his tests. he is german he works for a german magazine, and obviously feels that porsches are threatened by ferraris, hence wishes to act as a "good german citizen".
he has been doing that on a regular basis for many years now. this is only one of many examples of how useless his lap times are.
