Contrary to popular belief, the SLS AMG was not a direct successor to the SLR McLaren. The SLS AMG didn't have any direct predecessors and was a retro-design of the 300SL Gullwing.
The SLR McLaren had no direct predecessors either, and like the Carrera GT (but unlike the Enzo), it offered the exact same performance as its homologated predecessor in a higher-fat body.
The SLS AMG was basically a German version of the Ford GT and Dodge Viper, but without the supercharger or the V10.

slr is clearly better. more luxury more comfort auto gearbox more hp and higher top speed

SLR was competition to cars like Ferrari Enzo and Carrera GT, SLS is in class with Ferrari 458 Italia. Price is also similar, and just look at Ferrari, 458 is almost fast as Enzo, but much cheaper. That's evolution...

Take the SlS performance back to 2003 and then you'll understand the price difference. 7 years in the automotive business is a very long time, and even more when we're talking about super-cars. Besides, how many of you could use even 75% of it's capabilities? I don'r understand the complaints. The SlR in relation to it's competitors price tag was terrific; E.G 1 million dollar Enzo.
