Porsche 997 GT2 faster, both on a line, and on a straight line. Absolutely.

After two hot-laps on the ring the gearbox and tires of the GT-R are overheating. That won't happen to a GT2.
by the way Porsche won just only because its faster at the straight

@ ilporsche

are you as stupid as looking at?? It's not important how many times Gt2 won, if Gtr has better total time from all tracks it's faster like you can see in Track Performance line. Is it so to hard to understand?

gt2 won becaust it got better time more than gtr. you can see:

It worked on "damp" "moist" etc. but at the moment I have temporarily disabled "Exclude wet laps" due to technical changes I am doing to the website right now.
somebody should edit those damp notes in the lap times to (semi wet) so the (Exclude "wet laps") can work

bingo!

ps: somebody should edit those damp notes in the lap times to (semi wet) so the (Exclude "wet laps") can work

The reason the GT2 needs AWD is because it lifts the front tires off the ground when exiting a corner. Understeer and oversteer at same time is not hardcore, nor exquisite.
Why would it need AWD? The GT2 was designed to be a hardcore, life threatening, exquisit machine. In my opinion, it is the exact opposite of the Nissan GT-R.
If you believe that this car is not balanced, stay away from it!

I've read the GT2 needs the GT3 suspension and AWD to be balanced, and even then it's not worth the money.

Porsche really needs to stop playing games, add awd and the GT3 suspension and the GT2 might be worth the expense over the GT-R.

porsche is more like an autobahn car? who yu kiddin? and its true, the GT2 does get to a tested 186mph in 33.6s compared to the GT-R's tested 47.5-53.3. the 997 has better tyres, more power more torque and is lighter, so why wouldnt it get there faster. and the GT-R has ben proven to get to 195mph, not 186mph with full effort from its v6 as you say clatrum. and a car with 800bhp will surely no doubt get to 186 way faster than 25s. there is a video on youtube from a couple years ago, (not sure if its still there) of a stock TVR Cerbera Speed 12(1 of 5 getting to 200mph in 13.9s, and you really outta stop disrespecting the GTR, it will outperrmor damn ner all cars wether it in a straightline or round a track.

I believe it was even more than 70 percent but I am not sure.
why dont some company build a car with 800bhp per tone and just have low gear ratios to make it 0 to 300kph in like 25 seconds?
that would be the ultimate supercar
porsche is a autobahn car. for like straight highspeed. where is highspeed in gtr? takes at least 40 seconds to take the 185 mph or 300 kph. that is 10 seconds more that the 911 gt2. can you all imagine a someone needs more power to accelerate to highspeeds and where is it? in low gears, that is like a sport car like wrc car. that have that power only for short acceleration times.
the turbos from the gtr just turn off at the speed of 140 mhp or 240 kph. the car reaches 185 mhp or 300 kph in total effort from the V6. so the turbos are for the acceleration of the car, to take the 1700 kilograms to higher speeds it would need a powerfull engine and a new power turbocharging all the engine to higher speeds like 200 mhp or 330 kph. the gtr again loses in most high speed tracks and the most important supercars actually beat the 400 kph like the bugatti veyron. and speed is straight ahead not for a short distance. even god knows that.

actually their performance isnt that similar the gt2??

Who You Kiddin?
actually their performance isnt that similar the gt2 is built for going round the track fast and takes skill to drive and if you'v seen road & track and motortrends tests for these cars you'll notice how the gt2 push much more down force of lateral g on the skid pad and further more the gt-r is only nissans base supercar and it has an awd systm that makes it easy to drive because its so controlled by a computer systm with awd.

you know that 70% is just a conservative estimate right?
you know 70% of gt3s are on a track right?
And why would no one track these cars?
Since NOBODY that buys either car will ever be on a track the 911 makes more sense to own.

In USA and Japan GT-R wins...
In Europe GT2 have a little bit of advantage
