I took the Scirocco for a test spin for 4 hours! Amazing. Handles like a dream. That exhaust note sounds amazing. Waste gate release get me all fired up. Never slipped. Even going around a wet roundabout at 80 kph 4x didn't loose traction or speed once. Pleasure to drive, and response is phenomenal. Don't just talk about it go take one for a test drive! You won't be sorry. And what is it gonna hurt if you take it out and don't like it compared to a Mk5 gti? I have not driven a Car that is that good in a long time....
Enjoy

Weight distribution ?

Choosing between new GTI and Scirocco is justified. Maybe acceleration is the same, but the new GTI has XDS, it will help you get around corners a little bit better.

Thanks for the info! Knowing this it seems that choosing a new GTI over the Scirocco is less justified, unless you want that extra bit of practicality...

Bobby it's not the same engine from the Golf V GTI. It's the EA888, new generation, but same block. It's the same engine from The Golf VI GTI. Same power. Dyno test. Do not be fooled by technical papers. One 200 and the other 210. Not true.

I believe that the engine in the Scirocco is identical with the one found in the Golf V GTI. So in this car the engine is not supercharged, instead the forced induction is done by a turbo (and still has a turbo lag).
Congrats on your purchase, AN! (ironic)

The scirocco is way better than the GTI MarkV. The main reason would be that tough both are essentially 2.0 engines, with the same power 201bhp, The scirocco has the supercharged version which eliminates any lag and is simply beautiful to drive.. I am so happy i sold my R32 and bought this one.

Zat 0-100kmh time right? 6.2 to 100kmh with 200bhp and FWD? seems a lil fast. Scan/Test?

User avatar

Anonymous  16y ago

7.2-60? i dont thin so, the best so far that has ben tested to 60mph is 6.3, so 0-60 damn sure aint 7.2, and somebody might wonna check dat 0-100kmh time.

I found out that Scirocco has 210hp.Brochure says 200hp for scirocco and 210hp for the Golf 6 GTI but it is the very same engine. NICE WORK VW ! BLEAHH!

Wads  16y ago

Where did the 0-100kph time come from 6.2 seems too quick to me especially as the new Scirocco R is claimed to hit the same in 6.5sec.....

User avatar

Anonymous  16y ago

The Scirocco did a 1.21.4 min in Hockenheim..please see the reference on youtube.

User avatar

Johnsen  16y ago

Drove this car at the Nurburgring with DSG, fantastic car, superb handling!!!

User avatar

Anonymous  16y ago

why would you put slower stats?? dumbass!!

User avatar

anonymous  16y ago

0 - 60mph is 7.2 secs so 0 - 62mph will be 7.5 or 7.4.

Does anyone fancy adding the 2.0TDI? I have a new lap time for it.

The "RACING RIVALS" of each car are chosen on which parameters?

Power-weight ratio. So you can expect sometimes these selections to be quite retarded. :D

I love this page.

You're welcome!

I have a question @FastestLaps:

The "RACING RIVALS" of each car are chosen on which parameters?

Thanks for your answer.

I love this page.

User avatar

Porschisti  16y ago

That's true.

Scirocco with 200 hp engine has been tested 6,2-6,3 Seconds 0-100 km/h several times.

The car is incredible value for money.

Volkswagen is always a little modest on their performance values. 0-100km/h times and engine power ratings are always a little less than in real life.

@BMW they don´t wanna piss GTI customers. the Scirocco was already tested with 6.2s 0-100km/h..1second faster as factory claim
