SSC Ultmate Aero 2007 0-322km/h measurements vs Hennessey Venom GT.

"Comparison of the 2013 Henessey Venom GT GPS for its 0-300kmh record run , and 2007 SSC Ultimate Aero using GPS readout from its 412kmh record top speed run.

The SSC has superior traction and pulls away from the start, while the GT buggered the launch and 0-100kmh. Because of this, the SSC remains ahead at 200kmh, 250kmh and 300kmh, while the superior aerodynamics allow the Venom to catch up. Both do 0-200mph (322kmh) in roughly the same time.

Summary:
SSC vs Henessey
0-100kmh 2.9s 3.8s
0-160kmh 4.7s 6.3s;
0-200kmh 6.2s 7.3s
0-250kmh 8.9s 10.1s
0-300kmh 12.8s 13.4s
0-322kmh 14.9s 14.8s

The henessey is, like the koenigsegg agera r, another too high horsepower car with too poor a traction to handle its power. Even with its traction control, it did 0-100kmh in 3.8s. Had it shaved off a second off its 0-100kmh, it could have easily kept up with the SSC.
The SSC however, deserves my kudos because they have excellently managed their power with a traction package capable of handling it."

Very nice indeed. Any issues contact the author.

https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/guinness-names-fastest-car-in-the-world/

Quote>"In order for a Guinness hopeful to contend in the "production car" category, the car must use pump gas and conform to all DOT/EPA regulations, including those for emissions and safety."

Well the SSC Ultimate Aero DID achieve a Guiness World Records and you can't just turn up with something out of the blue and claim a record? It took YEARS for SSC to achieve what they did? And let's not forget that nobody else stood in the way of the Bugatti Veyron?

I mean certain manufacturers talk about David and Goliath but, there was ONLY ONE between 2007-2010?

You CAN'T, you CANNOT just "claim" EPA or DOT clearances. You CAN'T, it's impossible. They'd have you over a barrel in no time.

So, based on INITIAL findings I'm quite happy that SSC can build a production specifications hypercar to rules and regulations. They've ****ing done it 15 years ago? And if they've got EXEMPTIONS GOOD! ABSOLUTELY GOOD! Exemptions has nothing to do with engineering or quality or reliability or any of that other bullshit haters throw around like it's something under the table.

Anyway the car got a Guiness World Record too to their rules and regulations and if that's NOT good enough, well it's irrelevant. They have their own methods of verification BEFORE certification is granted.

How about a ****ing telephone call to the EPA offices? I mean it's not that hard right!

"Hi this is GWR can EPA confirm SSC's passing of rules and regulations?"

The answer is obviously yes or no? Well, it was yes!

I'm really getting where an OWNER of BOTH SSC cars is coming from when he talks about them.

He should know, he drove one to over 286MPH in 1.9 miles?

🙃

SSC Ultimate Aero speed record in Guinness world records Facebook Twitter2012-01-12 1 680x For Release On: 10/09/2007 source: SSC Official Media Release, www.ShelbySuperCars.com Guinness World RecordsTM verified today that Shelby SuperCars’ (SSC) Ultimate Aero is officially the "Fastest Production Car" in the world. This is the first time the production speed record title has been held by a United States auto manufacturer since the Ford GT40 claimed the record in 1967. Guinness’ strict testing procedure required the car to drive down the course, turn around, and make a second pass in the opposite direction within one hour. The vehicle’s official "top speed" was then calculated by averaging the top speeds of each pass in order to negate any favorable road or weather conditions. Driver Chuck Bigelow, 71, drove SSC’s Ultimate Aero on a stretch of highway 221, clocking 414.31 kph (257.44 mph) on the first pass and 410.24 kph (254.91 mph) on the second pass to yield an official record speed of 412.28 kph (256.18 mph). From data presented by Dewetron’s world-renowned data acquisition system, Guinness officials verified the official speed to be .52 kph (.32 mph) faster than SSC had originally noted. This breaks the current official record held by the Koenigsegg CCR at 388 kph by 24.28 kph (15.09 mph) and the Bugatti Veyron's unofficial speed of 408.47 kph by 5.84 kph (3.63 mph). Engineering a production car capable of speeds in excess of 250 mph is truly a significant task. In order to fit the definition of a production car, the vehicle must use pump gas and conform to all DOT/EPA regulations, among which include emissions and safety. These restrictions not only make it difficult but very impressive for production cars to produce such high performance figures. Finding a testing site was another obstacle that SSC encountered, eventually forcing the company to prove their claim on a two-lane road in Washington State’s farming country. It has been decades since testing has been conducted on public roads, where factors such as wind and uneven road surfaces add complexities unknown to dedicated test tracks. Although SSC claims the Ultimate Aero’s true top speed potential was not reached due to the limited length of road available to accelerate (2.5 miles), they feel that there is no better way to show the true limits of a production car than by testing it on the public roads for which it is intended. Nevertheless, SSC is currently speaking with a media source that is trying to organize a super car event at a very well known testing track overseas. Jerod Shelby made a statement "Since the Mclaren F1, the Koenigsegg CCR, and the Bugatti Veyron all had a luxury that SSC hasn't had yet, we look forward to the day we can test the Ultimate Aero’s true top speed capability in a controlled environment with a near perfect surface, as our predecessors did. We feel that we have safely left 6-10 mph on the table for when that day comes." To put the Ultimate Aero’s acceleration into perspective; if the Aero enters the straight at Ehra – Lessien at the same speed the Veyron did, it would have enough room to accelerate to 255 mph, brake to a stop and still have 1.7 miles left of straightaway. With 1183 bhp and 1094 ft-lbs of torque, the Ultimate Aero produces more emissions-legal horsepower than any other production automobile in the world (another Guinness World RecordTM for which SSC is currently applying). Despite being designed to run at redline for extended periods of time, the Ultimate Aero remains remarkably drivable. The proprietary twin-turbo V8 power plant retains excellent idle characteristics, and thanks to a drag coefficient of just .357, Langley Full Scale Wind Tunnel testing calculates the vehicle to be aerodynamically stable to speeds up to 273 mph. Featuring all the amenities found in a luxury sedan, the supple leather/suede interior is highlighted by custom Recaro seats, a 10 speaker premium system, DVD/navigation/backup camera.

SSC Ultimate Aero VIN tag and Federal Safety STANDARDS CONFORMITY 2007

https://ibb.co/WxHvp33

And even in these very early years, other small manufacturers were applying for FEDERAL EXEMPTIONS relating to a myriad of things including NHTSA and EPA rules and regulations citing "financial hardship". One or the other or both even things like bumper heights! On public record, it's mighty interesting.

But the research is somewhat boring and tedious. But persistentance and perseverance pays off. And it already has. Volumes of data need analysis.

Sure, its goes 255 miles per hour 0 - 100 2.8 blah blah quarter mile 9.9 blah blah I just want a car that can go over a speed bump without damaging itself.

The interior is really disappointing ngl

A bit sad that this car never got the recognition that the big supercars did. Hopefully the SSC Tuatara will change that.

If you think this is the fastest production car in the world you'd be wrong. The Veyron's back on track and in the lead (commentary referance).

@SSCFrisbee

People want to see tests and reviews. When it doesnt happen they assume there is something to hide when in reality its a simple matter of very limited production with customers waiting on cars.

I have to admit, I'd love to see lap times and reviews of cars like this but I understand why it often does not happen.

But you should consider that breaking some lap records as well as speed records would get the car an amazing amount of positive press. I know this car will handle good but until there is some lap times no one knows how good.

@monkeypop - of the many, many people that post uninformed facts on the internet about SSC, you are one of the very few that is mostly accurate. Thanks! For those interested in seeing some unofficial testing videos on SSC's acceleration, you can find a 0-200mph testing video on our Youtube. Each of 6 0-200mph gear ratio test runs clocked in under 16 seconds (unofficially).

Iridium  14y ago

The fact we still haven't seen any decent independent tests (with the numbers such as acceleration being verified) of these cars, tells the tale.

User avatar

Spoon  14y ago

Except that the tested car was no fully production spec. Rubber being used being one of the many witnesses.

I've stumbled on the video of SSC's record run VGPS screen on dewtron.com, don't know whether its still there,
http://www.dewetron.com/us/products/sensors/dewe-vgps-200c/overview/
but heres the screen uploaded on youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGEL7VQy-D0
Comprehensive information about the incredible accel of the 2007 SSC Aero TT.
amazingly, they quoted 1/4 mile 9.95s @ 145mph. The record run version did 150mph in just 8.4s, 1/4 mile 9.5s @ 162mph est .
And this car hit 400kmh (30s) even before the veyron got anywhere near 340kmh.

User avatar

gt1bbvette  14y ago

i remember that video.
Aren't the magnesium wheels lighter than the carbon ones? I am not sure about the strength of them.

User avatar

gt1bbvette  14y ago

Yeah but the veyron and enzo have ran in other tracks other than the top gear track.
How can anyone not expect criticism when big news is made for breaking the top speed record but then that's all they do?

User avatar

monkeypop  14y ago

Yup, they sure did. I remember the enzo went for a long, long time without any laps and it was finally a owners car that was run around the nurburgring.

We wont see laps until some owner forks over his personal car or the company catches up with the backlog.. they arent going to fork over a car that is being built for a customer. That simple. It sure as hell isnt because SSC doubts what it can do.

I remember seeing a SSC beat out a veyron in a drag race quite a while ago in a video. Two of the rich sultans (or whatever they are) supposedly ordered Aeros after seeing this. I bet both of those guys are still waiting for their car to be built.

The rims they are using are amazing. They weigh half what typical alloy racing wheels do. That amounts to a hell of a lot less unsprung weight. I'd hate to see the price tag on these suckers. Check em out..

Didn't Top Gear need to resort to "bribing" Veyron/Enzo owners just to test the cars (Enzo guy had his book advertized). This car is more rare and more obscure than those two.

User avatar

monkeypop  14y ago

"So, i am not saying that it's numbers aren't good cause they are I am saying that if the company felt that they're car is capable then they would've done something by now."

As I already explained.. the company has a backlog of orders for the car. Each car is custom made.. do you expect them to hand over a custom made customers car to some car reviewer? To do so would be bad business, as soon as the car is built it goes to the customer. That is why there arent any lap times.. its not because the company is scared to hand it over for review. This happens all the time with small companies that custom build each car for a certain customer.

As I already said, the car has all the elements and posts all the numbers to indicate it will handle well. You saying it doesnt is pure unfounded speculation.
