You right, diesel is the best solution for daily driving.
1. Fuel consumption is lower.
2. Higher torque than petrol engine.
But the drawbacks: if diesel fuel has bad quality, the modern engine will literally die (thats why supply for modern diesel vehicles is low in countries like Ukraine or Russia). The second drawback is narrow rev region for power output, which is not bad for daily driving, but bad for performance driving

I'm sure you're correct (DDriver). But I am old enough to have seen the progress of the diesel engine over just the past 30 years especially Mercedes-benz. And I can unequivocally say for MOST people it IS a superior power plant. My friends uncle has nearly a 35 year old E-class diesel coupe for his sole daily driver and it's STILL going strong! And that is old technology! Todays power plants are MUCH better. I'm just pointing out for the average person speed is no longer a holdback for getting a diesel vehical. I knew that was true over 20 years ago now when I was selling Dodge vehicals and they came out with their CUMMINGS turbo diesel truck. I'd punch it and it would jump to 90 m.p.h. And that was a big heavey truck over twenty years ago.

F1 + diesel, wtf are you talking about?
Domination of diesel engines on LeMans prototype class is due to rules limitation, not diesel power superiority over petrol. Thats why you can see a lot of fans with big "Fuck diesel racing" signs.

Love the numbers on this engine. Get used to it guys the clean diesel is the engine of the future. I've always known it was superior to gas/petral engines. But it was slow, loud, smelled and had excessive tail pipe smoke. I knew in the future they would solve all those issues and they have. The diesel is twice as strong as a petral/gas engine with 2 to 3 times the life lasting upwards of 35 years 1 million miles! I was watching a Formula- 1 race the other day and even I was shocked to see 90% of the cars are diesel power now. Petral cars can't dream of competing in a 24 hour race anymore. Diesels DON'T break down they just run stronger and stronger. And the icing on the cake is the diesel Formula-1 race cars are almost silent compared to the petral cars because of the low R.P.M's and turbo chargers. Bently is even working on coming out with a clean diesel now. It's the perfect choice for the heavey ultra-expensive car. When you pay that much money for a car you want it to last forever.
