^ I didn't mean that they wouldn't TRY to win, I meant that I don't think they'll be in contention to win. Of course, they'll try the best that they can but I'd rather bet money on experience (Porsche) than the new kid on the block.

they start in the topclass they have to fight for victory... if you don´t want to win you don´t go racing. 24h races are endurance races... things go always wrong even for the winning teams are situation they did not expect... the best car with the best prepared team for such situations normaly wins..
Look at Manthey racings Porsche GT3 RSR with their 2008 recover to victory.. techical problems in the first lap broken water pipe... The repairs throw them back to two laps at the start and they drove a 24h qualfing to get back to the top and win the race...

They race the 24h at the northloop since 1970... but the list of overall winning producer is very short, BMW, Porsche, Dodge, Ford, Opel...

^ I wish them luck but I don't expect that they'll challenge for a victory. So many things can go wrong in a race that long.

officel officel...Lexus has confirmed they race the 2010 24h at the northloop with 2 factory supported LF-A prepared like the two years befor by GAZOO racing, this time they don´t race with prototypes outside the classment, this time they race with LF-A much more away from the prodcution model with more power, much lower weight, switching from 20" to much wider 18" rims and a dramaticly improved aerodynamic, first tests start in 2 days at the 20. march. Lexus forms tow driver teams, one with the German drivers Armin Hahne, Jochen Krumbach, Andre Lotterer the other is pure japanese with Takayuki Kinoshita, Akira Iida, Juichi Wakisaka and Kazuya Oshima changing the steering wheel...
This news is very welcome... Lexus has the balls to realy fight it out with Porsche, Audi, Corvette, Dodge, BMW under the same conditions and rules...
Were are the northloop factory laptime racers? They have no balls racing the Ring outside the factory claim contest... to meet their "enemys" eye on eye under the same conditions and rules to realy see who is the King of the Ring...

and according to Clarkson the track was moist..claimed in the same Top Gear season 14 final... compare a real very wet lap.. NSX-R with the LF-A and Clarkson is right not Hammond..

I see that the track condition for the LFA's top gear lap has been changed from 'wet' to 'moist', while according to top gears Richard Hammond the track was 'wet, very wet even' (Top Gear season 14 finale). We can discuss this forever of course, but isn't top gear in this case in the best position to decide?

MXN, you do know that (Some guy, Forgot his nam lol) did a 7:30 IN TRAFFIC with this car at the Ring dont you?

I bet it could beat the slr and carrera gt in the track...dont under estimate the car

Lexus prolly gave TG one, they prolly wanted TG to test it and get a fast lap for publicity, i knoe Ferrari would not give them an Enzo, and Bugatti would not give them a Veyron, but i believe Lexus wanted to get the hype real fast, so the gave TG one, they cant get a S7 TwinTurbo, but they can get this?, but i can definetly be wrong.

Top Gear's laps are bullshit, they should wait till they have a perfectly dry track, i bet they would have waited if it were british.

how come TG can get their hands on this car quicker than a 458 italia

A great time indeed considering the wet or even very wet(according to Hammond) test track.
Achieving the fastest ever recorded time under those conditions the LFA shows it has potential.

Yes Very True E, Usually when a car goes around the Ring THAT fast, theres bound too be big hype surronding it, but i did here on Jalopnik it went around in 7:30.

The Edmunds video above claimed the Lexus test pilot managed a 7:30 lap in traffic and stated his "opinion" that a 7:23 is possible..... however this was a pre-production version of the car so we can't be sure if its the same as the final road version.

Since when did it go on the Ring? If it got a 7:20, I think there would have been more buzz.
