"EsseEsse" means "EatEat" in german. XD

Georg  15y ago

no they made no compare comments..

but the Abarth SS and the normal were fitted with similar tires and wheels ..

Grande Punto Abarth SS
7.5x18"
Pirelli P Zerro Nero
215/40 ZR 18

Grande Punto Abarth
7x17
Pirelli P Zerro Nero
215/45 ZR 17

the SS reached 200-0km/h (125mph)
159.1m which isn´t much better than the standart Grande Punto Abarth

rxbkrs  15y ago

The reason I ask is if they mentioned anything in comparison with the Esseesse brakes.

User avatar

Georg  15y ago

@rxbkrs

Sportauto tested the Grande Punto Abarth in a other test vs Opel Corsa GSI and Alfa Romeo Mito 1.4 TB16V

there the Grande Punto performed bad on the brakes..

200-0km/h (125mph-0)
Opel Corsa GSI 148.4m
Alfa Romeo Mito 1.4 TB16V 152.8m
Grande Punto Abarth 160.2m
12m = 3 car lengths thats not acceptable..following a GSI with a Grande Punto Abarth on a highway at high speeds and the GSI slamm the brake the Punto can get into real trouble...

User avatar

rxbkrs  15y ago

Georg, has Sportauto mentioned also the brakes of the "normal" Grande Punto Abarth?

User avatar

rxbkrs  15y ago

@ Gpa SS, one reason is because the ESP can't be turned off...

User avatar

Gpa SS  15y ago

Yes, i are right rxbkrs...in fact some laps time are very good but others are a little strange (maybe the pilots maybe the condition...bho)! eheh

User avatar

rxbkrs  15y ago

@ Anonymous 3 hours ago, so we can see more laptimes to evaluate the handling capabilities of the car. ;-)

User avatar

Anonymous  15y ago

...Why? wats so special about it?

User avatar

rxbkrs  15y ago

I hope this car gets tested more and gets more laptimes.

User avatar

Gpa SS  15y ago

I think about that, and i was too close to buy the car, but at the end for family problem (i not own), and now i wait for the next the Evo Abarth (that i prefer)...
but i like the SS very much (as if it wasn't understood =) )

For rxbkrs, yes it's normal that, but the normal car can with a low cost be upgraded in handling (suspension, etc), a different question for the engine (that have another turbo), and for omologation =)!
(but with the new Evo seems that, the difference are more less in engine)

GPA SS..... do you own this car?

User avatar

rxbkrs  15y ago

@ Gpa SS, sorry for my mistyping. Regarding the Esseesse version, the handling is much better than the normal Grande Punto Abarth. A fine comparison would be with the SEAT Ibiza Cupra.

User avatar

Gpa SS  15y ago

@ rxbkrs, sorry but i don't understand..what?

User avatar

rxbkrs  15y ago

@ Gpa SS, eisai Ellinas?

User avatar

Gpa SS  15y ago

Ok sorry I understand, yes maybe some choice aren't enough (in the ss kit), but the abarth normal remain a very good car for the price/fun (only 18000€), and probably the same thing for the next punto Evo, if not better (that have the engine already powered, in fact the kit ss are only filter and "ecu reprogrammed", and suspension etc..)(obviously is cheaper). So yes probably the ss kit aren't enough, for that price, and i think that difference is bigger in the next punto.

User avatar

rxbkrs  15y ago

Georg, you mentioned the brake performance is affected by the suspension. Did you mean that the harder the suspension, there will be better brake performance?

User avatar

Georg  15y ago

@GPS you don´t get it... the car is not shit, it is a a quick car during daily driving... but the Abarth improvments are not proper made, they choose the cheapest and not the best way to imporve thae car with the effect htat none of the improvments realy improve something... a driver who seek a fun to drive cheap hot hatchback will be very disapointed by the very limited capability of the SS.
There are much better hot hatchbacks in this size and price class... Mini, Clio etc..

User avatar

Gpa SS  15y ago

Yeah ! eheh Couriously i don't see any woman with that car...but yes i understand that fiat is a shit for yours...sorry guys!

Inline 6 rules  15y ago

Gpa SS, Georg wrote that this car wasn't created to be a true sportscar, it's just a sporty car for women.

User avatar

Gpa SS  15y ago

Sorry but i don't understand completely... can you explain more easier ? ...
sorry ! =)

User avatar

Georg  15y ago

they did no compare..they run this car through the supertest and it more or less failed as a drivers car... a fast shopping trolly with a great name but nothing to back it up..

User avatar

Gpa SS  15y ago

Georg. I think they are too critic to that car, and not a much to anothers (worst in handling), they are a bit hard. The best are the clio rs especially because the renault think from the beginning to be a race car. However the Gpa is a normal car only powered by abarth, and some things are difficult to change (a lot) like the weight balance, and for the question of esp that can't turn off totally i think that is especially a security reason, cause of the customers that buy the car (that often are young and often stupid) (not always =).
But i guess that with the next abarth EVO (that i prefer =)) they do a better car...altough the SS remains a very good car, but not a racing car (for that there's the Gpa S2000)! =)

Bye
PS sorry for the english

Nice pic. :) Thanks Georg. :)

User avatar

rxbkrs  15y ago

Georg, can you please replace the image on top with the one that's down? Those are the actual wheels the car wears. Also the weight of this car is 1241 kilograms.

User avatar

Georg  15y ago

@rxbkrs
I know exactly what you mean...their is a strict brake procedure at the first meters with such brake pads and brake discs... same at my brake their is a ten side letter from mov´it exactly telling through a brake procedure to bring both pads and rotors to full potential...
starts with soft low speed braking (never coming to a complete stop) increasing speed and brake force till you reach speeds of 100km/h and push the brake with average force... after that ~30 brake accelreation routins you should drive the brake carefully for about 200km in normal traffic after that you can start to slowly push it to the limits...
I guess that car magazines get well prepared cars for testing

User avatar

rxbkrs  15y ago

Also, regarding the brakes, the brake pads that the Esseesse version wears are semi-sport pads. Those particular pads first of all have to be heated so they can perform well. Secondly, they have to be normally used in their first kilometers. Meaning no excessive hardcore braking in their first kilometers. I don't know how to explain it exactly. Sorry for my english.

Georg  15y ago

I don´t know I only wrote done what sportauto did not like at the SS and there was a lot they did not like...
