this is one of my favorite cars fast too i remember seeing it on a car tv show
back in late 1999, (i wish i rememberd what it was:(. it was almost like a
japanese documentary..(subtitles..unfortunetly) it was bout rare and expensive
supercars. when i find it ill post it o here, it included an xj220,eb110
gt-ss,r390,f50,ctr2,gst-r and a couple others it was the best car tv show id
seen it was a 2 hour special. agani too bad it was in japanese..lol

who do you think would win around the ring the Porsche 996 911 GT1 or the Nissan

my money's on the R390 i bet if they took this baby around the Nurburgring i
have no doubt that it will break the lap record. the only difference between
this and the lemans car is the interior thats ben suited for road use.
The R390 had serious overheating problems (tranny) in 1997 the best R390 was
67laps behind the winning car in LeMans. My money is clearly on the Porsche
around the Ring

My money:....CLEARLY R390 a million dollar nissan...c'monnnn just look at what
the gt-r does, i know this was be fore the r35's time but still. id say it could
beet the porsche round the ring by MAYBE a full 5 secs...(maybe)
why should the Porsche GT1 loose at the Ring? The Porsche GT1 was over 2seconds
faster as the fastest R390 at LeMans in 1997. After 24h the R390 was 489km
behind the fastest Porsche GT1... and BEHIND 3 Porsche GT2.
In 1998 the R390 was behind 2x Porsche GT1 same as in 1997 the fastest Porsche
GT1 was 2seconds faster as the R390..
The road versions were more or less the race versions with licens plate.. why
should a car that clearly beat the other suddenly loose only because someone
removed the sponsor stickers and added a licens plate.. ?

Just because they beat it at le mans it cant be faster? 1. r390 is lighter by
336 pounds has better torque/power weight ratio. and like you said it had tranny
prolems, so whos ta say without the tranny prolems it wouldnt have destroyed the
gt1? dont get me wrong the porsche is one of my fav cars so im not being biased.
but high priced high powered japanese supercars are not to be triffled with
hence skylines/r35's. plus r390 would whoop it in a straightline too..lol anyhoo
ther can be alot of factors behind the reason the porsche won..ie bad tires,bad
equipment,bad or relished brakes,bad driver..lol and like you said overheating
problems. but still r390 in my opinion.
The Porsche GT1 was produced in 3 different road versions .. the 1996
2200lbs/590hp, the 1997 GT1 2750lbs/542hp(steel chassie), the 1998 GT1
2090lbs/542hp (full carbon chassie)..
Porsche GT1 beat the R390 in real world end of story...

im not talking bout f1 cars a-hole im talking bout road cars where
power,weight,torque mean NOTHING with tech these days hence GT-R beating GT2 and
Scuderia both the gt and scud have more power and almost 1000 pounds of weight
off the GT-R (hence power and weight mean nothing again zonda f and zr1 12 bhp
down and 600 pounds more than the zr1 and yet the zr1 coms out on top in a
straight line and the n-ring. i could go on but like i sai
power,weight,torque...mean NOTHING today WITH the worlds technoligies....
The F430Scuderia and GT2 beat the GT-R if driven by a expert like 4time F1
worldchampion Alain Prost..and that pretty clearly with a 2.5second lead each
lap driven at the same day under the same track conditions..

george that was on vairano course??? i didnt expect nothing else from the
italians...they are to proud to go faster or to make better laps with gtr than
with theyr cars...
The car was driven by a frensh and you know that Nissan is owned by Renault
which is a frensh company and by the way, the GT-R also lost vs the F430
Scuderia and GT2 at the Bedford race track driven by UK drivers..

THE nurburgring is the benchmark of all cars..(or it should be) and as long as
cars are tested there i really don care where else. its true the gtr lost to the
scud an gt2 but they both get there EXTREMELY good looking buts handed to them
on the ring..lol (i dont mean to be a dick or anything)

oh yes the gtr is slower on bedford...
i live in europe so i know about renault nissan aliance... i vas reading about
it in newspapers...
renault bought 40% of nissan stocks, and nissan bought about 25% of renaults
stocks...so the renault isnt nissans boss... but they are developing engines new
together, and using them on both cars...

but annyway there are some engines that renault dont have fingers in it... they
only develop diezel engines together, so the engines from 350z or gtr are all
made by nissan, and the rest of non diezel engines
Nissan is owned by Renault..get your facts togehter .. Renault owns 44.4% of the
Nissan stocks, is the largest owner of Nissan stocks and is by japanese stock
law the owner of the Nissan company. Nissan owns 15% of Renault stocks with NO
vote right.. Gosh is the chief of Renault Nissan and he sits in the Renault HQ..
go figure.
