It says they are equal because there are no lap times for 4-door M3. They are
equal based on known specifications - power/weight ratio, acceleration figures,
top speed etc. Only when someone tests the M3 sedan on track, we will really see
how good it is compared to Audi. I can't really decide which one I would take if
I had a chance. They are both V8 420 hp, both are very good looking, refined
cars. I like them both.
New RS4 is not due for a while.... Audi usually leave the RS versions until the
current main stream model has been available for a couple of years. As the new
A4 has only just come out the RS4 probably won't be seen until 2009/2010..... I
have been talking to the UK product line director for the A4 and thats what he
told me (I wanted to know when the new RS$ would be available). Also Audi only
ever have one RS model on sale at a time so the RS6 would have to end before
another RS comes to market so thats 2009 at the earliest.
Wads Audi already has confirmed that that they drop that politic of only one RS
at once and to come up with the RS version in the last two production years. The
new RS4 comes as soon as possible... but not befor mid to late 2008. Currently
Audi is working on two other RS versions next to the RS6..the TT-RS (340hp
inline5 twinturbo) the RS5 and of course the RS4

TOP GEAR HAS TESTED AUDI RS4 VS E90 M3 AND M3 3 IS CONSIDERABLY QUICKER. IN A
STRAIGHT LINE BY ABOUT 1.5 CAR LENGHTS OVER APPROX. 400M BUT OVER 5 SECONDS
QUICKER AROUND THE TRACK THEY WERE USING. THE STIG DROVE BOTH THE CARS AND HIS
SKILLS CANNOT BE FAULTED AS IS DEMONSTRATED IN THE STORY
My money would be on the RS4 being quicker in a drag but the M3 on track.....
and the M5 would eat both in a straight line.
I hope to test the M5 in a couple of weeks.

eerm but isn't the M3CSL, M3 E92, and the Merc C63 AMG faster than the m5!? :D
You are right but the more correct term is "German Car Fan", i cant even look at
