For the record, the leaf springs used on corvettes are anything but traditional leafs. They arent even used in the same way as truck leaf springs in that they span the width of the car and are attached to double A-Arms. A single leaf.. is used in the rear and a single is used up front.

They are a composite material and have numerous advantages over coils all while doing the exact same job. They weigh 1/3rd less than coils, position weigh lower for lower center of gravity, produce less unsprung weight and act as anti-roll bars which further reduces weight by eliminating the need for a bulky anti-roll bar.

Not exactly "ox cart" suspension as Jeremy Clarkson calls it.

Personally, Top Gear and Motortrend are good programs, for entertaining pourpouses... I just don´t believe magazines, videogames or TV programs, I prefer to check things by my self, have a word from true experts or from competitions.
A big V8 is a lazy engine (in the good way) capable of making great amounts of power without too much effort, making them tougher than those over-enngineered enignes that sounds like getting asfixiated as the RPMs comes, quite used by exotic manufacturers or even some Japanese cars. A Ferrari or Porsche engine would need a deep revision every 30000 kms, not to mention after a race. Just look to the classic Muscle Cars: they were both dayly drivers and weekend racers, with power ranging nearly under 200hp to above 4oohp, and some doing 0-60 in 4.5s. NASCAR cars were basically modified street cars, not race cars. That´s much more than others can say.
For me, the never-ending war against USA car makers is just another way to demostrate the ignorance of those people, that should stop playing video games and get a life in the real world, learn some modals and learn how to respect other´s opinions.
The Corvette is a great car, same as the Viper, GTR, NSX, F50, DB9 and a lot more of cars (classics and news). Some are fasters, others cheaper, others are touger... but one thing is for sure: there will be always one that will beat them all, no matter if it will be from USA, Europe or Japan. This is Automotive history, true enthusiasts knows it.

A rear wing doesn't automatically make a car an ACR competitor. Lamborghini isn't really a track car maker. Though I admit, I'm a bit surprised too.

I don't have a problem with JC's comments on Top Gear because it's obvious that he's joking most of the time. He makes fun of everyone (including himself) and not just Americans and American products. It's entertainment and I treat it as such. It's almost as if whenever he starts a review saying how terrible something is, at some point he'll change his tune and say how much he loves the "power". If he starts his review with how much he loves the power, he'll switch to say how much is wrong with the car.

Yes, i agree with you, but o alot of American cars fans, like myself, can get really heated at some of the lies and stereotyping he does, and since top gear is the biggest and best car program to date, alot of people will go with what he says, im a HUGE fan of the show, but when clarkson presents an american car, im always less interested in what he has to say, even when one of them is my fav.

have to admit clarkson makes top gear funny. if it wasn't 4 him i probabaly wouldnt watch top gear.

I agree with him also, people today are too ignorant and believe everything Jeremy Clarkson say about american cars, hes quite biased, everyone knows this, then you got those Corvette haters, or those plane american haters who believe everything they here on tv, its pathetic, theres no such thing as the worst cars, or the worst country of cars, Corvettes may not be the best cars, but calling them unreliable or crap is just plane ignorant, ive ben around cars my whole life, and iv never seen a Corvette even have a start up problem.

i agree with you bum rush. @ anonymous above, don't be hating. why don't you prove it. no known recalls. the 6.2 liter engine is similar to the ones outfitted in gm trucks and suv's that are known to last hundreds of thousands of miles. and btw the corvette has finished every 24 hours le mans endurance race it has competed in since the beginning of this decade. no wonder why there are plenty of corvettes on the road today.
