996 GT 2 (462 CV) lap Nurburgring in 7:46 with P Zero Rosso, so i think this
new model should be at least ten second faster.
7.32 seems optimistic, but it's no impossible with corsa tyres
If you accept 7:42min Z06 factory claim (is there any full lap video that proof
the claim?) you have to accept Porsche factory claim too...
The 380hp GT3 RS is able to lap the Ring in 7:43min it is only ~100lbs lighter
but has only 380hp vs 530hp.. why should a factory Porsche 997 not be able to do
the same as 996 tuner Porsche with the same power did years ago?

The 7:32 time is heavily contested on the Internet. AutoBlog.com is not a
serious source. Read their article, it says they got the info from
Motorauthority.com, who was victim of a scam/photoshop.
Here is the brochure for who wants to read it: http://www.eurocarblog.com/post/505/porsche-911-gt2-leaked-broch

Porsche 997 GT 2 run Nurburgring circuit with Michelin Sport Cup, the same tyres
which allows Bwm M 3 CSL 7:50 lap time.
So with Rohrl as driver 7.32 is possible in my opinion.
Obviously it's only a claim, not an indipendent test, but if it won't be
confirmed you can delete it in the future.
I believe in Porsche factory claim.
We shouldn't collect "factory claims" here. We should collect real lap times. If
this 7:32 won't be backed with some proper background information, I will delete
it. And Autoblog really isn't the best site to quote as lap time reference.

Sorry the article is in German...a tracktest of Walter Röhrl testing the extrem
X-bow...the interesting information is that Walter Röhrl left Austria after the
X-Bow test to test the 997 GT2 at the Nordschleife >>Porsche-Mann Röhrl würde
Porsche men Röhrl will test drive the GT2 the next days at the NS. He was
informed that a Michelin (tires) testdriver already reached a 7:37min. ....
7:37min > 7:32min the Röhrl effect..

Usual bullshit from Porsche fans.
Current production Porsche cars cannot do such times on Nordschleife, so Porsche
fans are flooding the Internet and the media with all sorts of rumors and
ridiculous indirect references from another car test reference plus Rohrl
effect!?? :-)
Or photochoped brochures :-)
There is no such thing as Porsche factory claim. There are only rumors, garbage.
Show me something from Porsche, at least one reference.
Only the records from Sport Auto are the truth.
Yes. Many trusted sources say Rohl managed to lap the Ring with GT2 in 7:31.
Where's impossibility in that? Do you think your american plastic cheapshit is
better? Or faster?

Whats wrong Marco? Can't stand that it beat a Vette, Viper, Ferrari, Lambo,
Veyron, and most others?
Give it to Sabine...imagine the times...*drools*

Nothing is wrong for me.As i said in my old posts i believe in factory claim and
i believe in Rohrl's words.
So 7.31 is possible im my opinion and beating Ferrari,Lambo, Vette ecc...is
usual for a Porsche in Nurburgring track.
Excuse my english

Many trusted sources??? Your link Marco is a copy-paste from MotorAuthority.com
that published the photochopped brochure :-)
Interview in Swedish. What's next? Walter Rohrl was interviewed by a Chinese
magazine and it did 7:00??
How about some straight source, in a language of international circulation?
Lame advertising from Porsche!
They want to sell their overpriced GT2. Come on, at $200K one can have a Ferrari
Scuderia, exactly the same price new.

And you think it is a better car - the Scuderia 430? Oh no it isn't! It is
hardcore track day car which even on track can be beaten by GT2 - which is not
only a track day car - it is much more usable much more versatile. Much more
value for money.
I changed it to 7:31 and also entered the name of driver. Because, as it turns
out, it is not just a "factory claim".

It's right, but in my opinion you should change Carrera Gt laptime too.
The same driver lap in 7.28 with that car.
GT 2 is incredibly fast but not faster than Carrera GT.
I need to see some kind of proof (reference) before I can change lap time. I
understand - it does not seem likely for GT2 to beat CGT but we need a reference
for each and every lap time.
