The weight it is not true. Below is a scan from Sport Auto where the car was weighted at 1528 kg. Please do not believe Lamborghini's lies and "dry weight" BS :) http://www.supercars.net/Pics?vpf2=y&gID=3&fID=0&tID=129107&mID= 3263259&l=a

Heyhuub 22/07/07, 11:23:25
Well it is the dry weight, ad some fuel and a driver and voila, you'r on 1520kg.

Anonymous 22/07/07, 20:10:05
The Sport Auto magazine is one of the most professional. I bet they don't include the driver, it is just the standard "curb weight". Lamborghini should be ashamed of their dirty marketing; the real car weight is 1528 kg. Are you guys going to correct it above?

Heyhuub 23/07/07, 11:43:33
The weight Sport Auto uses is that with a full fuel tank. Not sure if the driver is included at that.

Anonymous 24/07/07, 20:47:50
Driver is never included. I guess you don't want to correct the wrong 1430 kg because you like Lambos :))

Every manufacturer weight isn't right with the actual weight. Same goes for ferrari and Porsche. A 997 GT3 may be stated at 1395 kg, but Sport Auto weighted it in at 1445kg.

FastestLaps 25/07/07, 12:33:22
Not all cars are tested by magazines or other independent sources so we have no choice - we have to stick with official information provided by manufacturer. And don't forget that things like power and weight actually does not matter in the end if the car is able to post better lap times on track. We care about lap times.

Heyhuub 25/07/07, 13:12:41
'Did you notice that people only say this about lambos, even though pretty much every manufacterer doesn't state the full weight. Ferrari does the same thing. Didn't we have the same problem with the normal Gallardo?

Anonymous 26/07/07, 02:30:46
Because it is only Lamborghini that gives only the ridiculously stupid "dry weight". The difference in your example (GT3) is 50 kg, but in Lambo's case is 98 kg. Ring a bell? Here is an opinion from a respected online magazine, Winding Road: "Dry weight - Lamborghini continues to favor this utterly useless figure over true curb weight due to the marketing benefits" http://news.windingroad.com/auto-news/lamborghini-lp640-murciela go-roadster-lands-in-la-and-poses-no-surprises/#more-3144

Guess that was the end of the reign of the GT-R on Tsukuba.

FastestLaps 27/01/08, 20:31:55
It certainly was a pleasure to watch the GTR being overtaken despite all the effort they made to insure that it will take the first place.

FastestLaps 27/01/08, 20:45:27
I submitted two YouTube videos to Fastestlaps.com Video Shootout database. One is 5 lap battle @ Tsukuba (The same one you mentioned in Gallardo SL reference) and the second one is 0-400 challenge. They both come from the same Best Motoring video DVD and they both compare the same 5 cars.

Anonymous 27/01/08, 21:44:42
Superleggera is without a doubt an extremely fast car, but it is the ultimate gallardo. I was actually impressed with how well the GT-R compared to it. I mean it is a lot heavier, much more equipped it is a 2+2 and in the end down on power by 50 - very impressive new Nissan. The amount of grip Gallardo had on the Tsukuba track was impressive as well, I'm surprised it didn't do better on the Nordschleife.

Georg 27/01/08, 22:03:32
well? The Gallardo was nearly a second faster on that thight track.. easy catched up after the GT-R took a large lead..easy passed it and 5 laps more it would have easy run out of sight.. sad that BM never pull out the true perfromance Porsche for a fair compare.. 997 GT3 RS and 997 GT2 the next time please..

FastestLaps 27/01/08, 22:10:24
And! If you read the comments on that video @ YouTube you see dozens of people complaining about BM taking the GTR for spin right before the race. So it started with warmed-up brakes and tires. That probably explains how easily it outperformed GT3 and Turbo in braking.

Anonymous 27/01/08, 22:21:20
Anyway, it is a 1720kg 480hp 2+2!! This is a standard version, not a v-spec, evo-spec or what-ever. It did a lap time only a 6 tenths slower than Superleggera! SL almost has an ash-tray made out of carbon-kevlar - it's an ultra light mid-engined supercar!

Heyhuub 27/01/08, 23:13:36
It's not exacly ultra light at 1520kg, plus it's still perfectly usable everyday too.

Anonymous 28/01/08, 08:16:24
1520kg? i thought BM stated its 1330kg 400kg lighter than GT-R

Anonymous 28/01/08, 09:49:30
1330 kg is a factory claim, Lamborghini claims dry weight, while the others use I think, full reservoir and other liquids, driver(75kg)+50kg. Still 1520 is pretty light for a modern mid engined AWD + it doesn't look very usable to me,GT-R probably isn't very usable in every day either, but much more than SL. :D

From fastestlaps host: "It certainly was a pleasure to watch the GTR being overtaken despite all the effort they made to insure that it will take the first place." Not a very impartial statement... Anyway, i not a GT-R big fan, but if was staged, why record a video where anyone could see the BS proof? And even so, why lose the race? False "Factory claim"? Always happens! Every time! I could be wrong, sure, and i dont mind. But there is too many partial claims here, from both haters and fanboys. Without this, the forum could be much better

V-Spec 02/03/08, 11:35:32
The superleggera is 1330kg, not 1500+. How do i know this? The same way you do. By reading magazines. And what do they all report? 1330kg.

Georg3 17/04/08, 08:36:47
haha This car sucks at a larger track like Motegi. It got KILLED by the GT-R. lol so much for the 5 minutes of fame. hahaha Maybe they should line up an R8 against the GT-R lmao.
