they made them solid axled because irs can't handle the power an tq made by this car withought investing more money into the suspension which would have made the car a lot more expensive and lets face it this is a drag strip car solid axles with stickey tire have better launches than irs due to the fact that their is no computer holdind the tires from spining to much so all in all the 911t might be faster the r8, the gallardo lambo, and many other foreign cars but the point is a lot of us have an easier time spending 40-50k then 100k++++++ so to these people on here saying well in blah blah blah we have this this and that well were in america we don't have the autobahn or very many curvy roads so a cheaper the lambo and audi etc car that has some pretty good times overall is just right for me

What I found was pretty interesting. Laguna Seca its not far off e92 m3??Its actually damn fast...at VIR its a tenth a second off e92 m3 thats a long track. Even got the 997???? Pretty impressive for a car that can be had now for 34K!!! If it wore m3 rubber it would have faster then m3 times on those road courses. cant be all bad?

Well a good reason is because its quite heavy and it has skinny rear tyres so there easy to spinn and mess up the launch, and adding more power doesnt help that fact, but give it to a proper driver and all that dissapears.

I find it amazing how the supersnake has gobs of power compared to this and the times are fairly close??

Motor Trend got 0-100 mph in 9.7 seconds for a 2008 Ford Shelby GT500. I don't know if there were signifigant changes between 2006 and 2008 models.

I agree with you on that the mustang's build qaulity is a joke all ford doess when it come's to makeing the mustang's is give them a ridiculous amount of power and torque and they dont care how well engineered their car is judging by the fact that the transmition,gearing,drivetrain suspension,tire's and all that other important stuff that goess in to building a good car is crap because ford care for all of this when it come's to their prehistoric mustang i'm telling you this if the mustang had a decent transmition and suspension it would be more than just a good care but it seem's that all ford care's about is the power and the torque.

I told you guys before they had an engineer from ford talking to graham fletcher from motoring tv and graham asked why it does not have a proper suspension and the engineer repied that most people that buy mustangs change the gearing on the rear end and graham just shook his head, ya what a poor excuse, quality is definitly not number one.

Not adding proper suspension too a car just because its a 5K option, is quite ridiculous, and top speed Unlimited is actually a proven 192mph, there was a video on youtube of a Stock GT500 going around the Nardo, i tryed to post it but when i looked for it it got flagged for some reason, ill se if i can try to find it again.

a proper suspension would cost them another 5k, and this being 21st century america the only option is to build up a discount car. if you actually can it will handle much better.

You are absolutely right. In the following video there is a 50-300 km/h acceleration duel between a 600 hp GT500 and Gallardo. At lower speeds the 600 horses in the Mustang perform very well but once above 150/180, Gallardo suddenly pulls away, despite the fact that Mustang has 100 hp more. I think it has something to do with the large vertical grille that Mustang has. In 2009 model they seem to have narrowed air intake area on the front to improve the aerodynamics.
