69 Ultima GTR 720 reclaims TopGear track record

Cover for Ultima GTR 720 reclaims TopGear track record

People from Ultimasports just can't stop telling us how unbelievably quick their Ultima GTR supercar is. They say they have set every possible acceleration and deceleration record there is and when Caparo T1, another ultra-fast, ultra-insane road legal car, beat their lap record at the TopGear track, they have been hard at work making sure this doesn't stay that way for much longer.

And for sure - it didn't. The manufacturers of Ultima cars now say they have set a new record at Dunsfold airfield of 1 minute 9.9 seconds, making their Ultima GTR720 once again the fastest road legal car around TopGear track.

And to prove it, they even have provided us with a YouTube video with quite cocky commentary adding on to the "we are the best sc*w the rest" theme.

I have no information about what kind of tires they were using (whether or not they were road legal tires) but other than that I see no reason why would anyone question the authenticity of this lap record.

Why is this still here?

We've gone over this 1000x before. The 1:10:60 by the T1 on street tires is still #1 on the TG track. Times set on slicks do not count

Lol, Caparo T1 Race Extreme on slicks and set up properly would SLAUGHTER all the other cars. The Caparo\'s full capability in handling can\'t be realized with just road tires. With slicks, the understeer is gone as the fronts will get a lot more grip and the car can be turned a lot more by throttle. I wouldn\'t be surprised to see an improvement of over 5 seconds

GROW UP!
The Fxx used the slicks of their choice
F-it
The Ulitma guys are quite ready to face an fxx on "road tyres", yeah!

A 800bhp LS7 supercharged engine with 855 lbsft of touque will be available later on this year, so I suppose that with this version every FXX will be history!!! What a car the ULTIMA! Though I would personally get the Can-am.

Anybody wanna take a guess at the 0-186mph time? 18.6?

Yes, $120,000 is not affordable unless you are one of the Wealthy. but, with this car, its quite the bargain.

Although I've never built a kit car, I've fabricated a few cars and I don't think a year and a half is a long time in car-building time.

BTW on the comment 5 bumps up count me in on the $120,000 is not affordable to me category

I went to the ultima website and found it strange that some comments from customers said things like (after a year and a half my car is finally finished) ??? Does it that long to build one??

What a bullshit again. The Ultima GTR is a track car made road legal.
A Carrera GT, Zonda F or Ferrari Enzo are extreme sport car but still GT. So you comparison have no sense.
Than FXX. Utima did many attempts (see at the start all the rubber on the ground of previous standing starts, they used also to improve grip at the start and shows how soft were slick tyres they used)
Fxx had no set-up for track and conditions and ferrari customer slick.

Douglas6250,

There is no lie, get a grip. They did it on road tyres in year 2007, 1min12.8secs. Seven secs faster than ferrari enzo. This was a comparison with an FXX, hence done on slicks.
