| The faster time on Tsukuba is from the tiem attack, the slower is from the race.

| The time on the nordschleife was done by golf IV R32, which was in fact faster
than Golf V R32 which did 8:48.

I guess it could reach something like 265 - 270 maximum. 300? No WAY!

it can hit 260km/h at best without limiter... 250hp are not enough to get
somehwere close to 270km/h.
If you wanna get close to 300km/h in a "normal" car you need 400-500hp.
The fastest Golf R32 the HGP biturbo toped 322km/h with 600hp. Does anyone realy
belive they have added 350hp only to get 22km/h extra? *rolleyes*

I am not sure but I also think that hatchbacks have worse aerodynamics - more
drag. Sedans and coupes are better for higher top speeds.

no the airdrag in´t made by the car shape... airindex is airdrag (cW) x frontal
surface area... the most important factor for good cW is the size and placment
of the radiator and the air stream through the engine compartment... same model
with different engines have different cW numbers..
example Honda S2000 vs Porsche Boxsert... S2000 extrem bad cW = low topspeed
with 240hp only 240km/h..Boxsert extrem good cW with small surface area = extrem
high topspeed 253km/h with lower power (225hp basic model) much faster topspeed
as the S2000

AFGun, if you want a VW Golf that can hit 300 km/h, go and rent VW Golf GTi W12
from VW and enjoy the ride! It will actually get you not only to 300 but to 325
km/h. And 0-100 km/h in 3,5 seconds. Btw: This mad one-of-kind show-car
supergolf will be featured on TopGear.

or you buy a HGP tuned R32... reaching 322km/h...they are pretty cheap compared
to other cars able to get to that speed

| Why are we even talking about 300MPH in a Golf? I have one, and love to go
fast, but I wouldn't dare hit 300MPH in my car...that is a death trap for
non-purpose built cars.

| nobody was talking about 300 mph. That's impossible even for the fastest
internal combustion engined cars built on purpose to go as fast as possible.
Someone just claimed that R32 would reach 300 km/h without limiter. But it's
totally impossible. Even 400 hp mid engined coupe Audi R8 barely reaches that
speed.

Georg there are several examples on the internet showing standard Honda S2000s
doing 253kph as well.... eg
http://youtube.com/watch?v=cxxh5zMwid8
Showing an indicated 281kph

Wads you realy reffer to speedclock? I talk about real speed..not fantasy
numbers by speedclock. Every speedclock is way off the true. My speedometer hits
260km/h at 6100rpm/6.gear... at this time I hit in real 243km/h. The S2000 has
horrible airdrag and I raced several of them topspeed on the Autobahn and I
outrun every of them..the car that owns me every time is the BoxsterS... good
airdrag takes them to a high "REAL"(not speedclock) topspeed

The S2000 speedo is not that inaccurate so even fantasy 281kph as at least
253kph in reality!
The drag coefficient between Boxster S and S2000 is close 0.32 for the Honda Vs
0.31 for the Porsche. What car do you drive?

| So are the times for Nordschleife and Hockenheim. Those were made by Golf IV R32
which is actually faster. I've written this before, but no one seems to care.
Please delete those times, and put the real ones. (not sure here but I think
8:48 and 1:20.3 are real results)
