why didn't the rs4 have the fastest sedan record around the ring for some time it even beat the 2009 cts-v
8 months ago
Why it couldn't be faster than heavy CTS-V?

That Ring time should be removed, all evidence is onyl from that picture wuth the blue car, or am i wrong?
yes thats true, but is there anything else to gon on except that picture?

R8 northloop time driven by independet car journalist (who hates Audi loves BMW and is a Porsche junky) The RS4 time was driven by Frank Stippler ex DTM Audi race driver (4. place 24hours at the Ring in 2004 on a Abt-Audi-TT-R)...

That is the same different between Nissan GT-R factory laptime of 7:26min and sportauto laptime of 7:36min... it is all about the driver doing the lap

Is there actually any hard proof for that 7:58 Nurburgring time except that damn picture? because how the hell doe this beat the R8 Quattro at the Ring when it looses to it on every other track listed? i mean every track, excluding that wet one, even in the damp the R8 beat it at the Top Gear Track, and yet some how on the GreenHell the R8 looses? somthing is not right here.

This car is the sickest audi.

End of.

I looked for proof of this time elsewhere, but didn't get any links. Just time lists that had the same time. The thing you posted Wads is just a picture that someone put together on that forum. Does anyone have a link to the magazine article or a web article?

"but hey just looka at the Top Gear Track time, its as fast as the more powerfull and lighter and more expensive Gallardo"

Yeah, but it's also two seconds slower than the R8 which was tested on a damp track...
I'm not saying it's impossible or false, it's just hard to swallow.

The RS4 is definitely a great car though.

No need for the OverPowered RS6 when ya gots this..lol

I can definetly believe that time, but its hard to believe it beats the 448lbs lighter R8 and 400bhp 6.0L Corvette C6, but hey just looka at the Top Gear Track time, its as fast as the more powerfull and lighter and more expensive Gallardo, but again ya have to account for alot of things. and this is one hell of a good looking car, it may be a bit expensive at $75,000, but its worth it, id get one, but im really not into sedans/saloons:)

I've always found the Ring time a little hard to swallow but there is some evidence to support it from a magazine article:

I can agree with that, but you have to consider alot of things though, like driver, conditions and limit, etc, the RS4 could of had much better conditions when they tested it. but i dont really know why, so i guess it is a lil fishy.

How did the RS4 manage a 7:58 around the ring?

An R8 takes 8:04, and somehow the significantly heavier RS4 is 6 seconds quicker? Not to mention how the R8 accelerates quicker, stops shorter, has an arguably better setup (mid engine), and is quicker than the RS4 on every track but the 'ring. The RS4 is also limited to 155, which would hold it back even more around nordschleife.

Something is fishy here IMHO.
I would have to see some hard evidence to believe that...
Wow! It's even faster than the M3 E90 on Nordschleife. Also, for 7:58s,how come the Cadillac CTS-V which did 7:59s "The fastest sedan on Nurburgring"?

what are you talking about, the is f is a four door.

oh, and wads. a lexus IS-F would be a great match. duh.
”He was saying that the RS4 is in a different class because its a 4 door..... and last time I looked the IS-F had two..... duh! I wasn't listing the competitors to the RS4 because everyone appart from Hotbob know exactly what they are (M3, IS-F, C63 etc.)

if anyone remembers road and track did all of that... a year ago. thee c63 won but i still have no idea which one id buy.

yeah its a heavy car for sure, but by no means slow. in comparison to maybe the super cars of today, it would be slow. but pit it with any average joe car and it will tear it up. i am in love with the RS4. whats better than four doors and a V8 biturbo? convenient, practical, and sporty. cha-ching!

Bobhot do you honestly beleive that the two cars aren't in the same class? What else would you put in the same class as an RS4 or M3? Would you consider the 4 door M3 as a direct competitor?
I am so bored of this M3 RS4 argument. They aren't in teh same class. 2 door m3, 3600lbs, 4 door audi, 3950lbs. Quattro vs rwd. These are not comparable cars. Each excel in their expected areas. RS4 is quicker off the start, better on the nasty roads, better daily driver. M3 is faster on the top end due to weight, can corner a bit better because of the famous Audi understeer. Its al about preference. I personally have an RS4, because it suits my daily life. If I were to track a car, I would probably stick with the RS4 because I am not a pro that likes the idea of breaking loose the rear end. But if I knew what I was doing, then maybe the M3??
this give's the m3 some intense competition one question who recorded getting the rs4 round nurburgring in 7.58 cause dand that's impressive.
