 The new series of BBC TopGear is almost there with the first episode arriving in just 4 days!
TopGear trio will be back in November 2nd and their first episode of new series will include, quote, "scary Porsche 911" and "tame Lamborghini Gallardo". A GT2 vs Gallardo 540 duel perhaps? Will wait and see.
It is also officially confirmed that a new show, similar to BBC TopGear, called "Top Gear Russia" is under development. Yes. You got it right. It's TopGear Russia... Like it wasn't enough with the original TopGear, TopGear Australia and TopGear America!
I really did not expect this but BBC's TopGear localization/cloning effort has really brought us this far - to the country of Gaz, Vaz, Zaz and Kamaz.
So why Russia? TopGear was successfully re-translated on Russian television for years. In 2004 a Russian version of TopGear magazine was launched and, apparently, it was immediate success. Now, four years later, Russian TV channel "REN TV" and Britain's "BBC" have signed an agreement on manufacturing and launch of a local Russian interpretation of the famous TV show.
It turns out that TopGear has a great appeal in Russia. And it's not surprising - it shouldn't be. TopGear is, without any doubt, the greatest and most entertaining automotive TV show ever made. Still, having said that, I can't help thinking that it also has something to do with the too-much-obvious anti-American attitude of the Top Gear trio. |
So there are already two episodes aired and I wonder if they have test track like TopGear and TopGear Australia. If they do have a test track and lap times, we should add it to our list.
